Choose the right golf clubs for you
There are so many golf clubs in the Market, and there are golf players in different level. How do we choose the right golf clubs for the right player? First, you should know the level of play.
Level of Play
Let’s be honest, if you’re a beginner or not-so-good golfer then check your ego at the door and do not go out and buy the big boy set when a lower end set will do just fine. In fact, most of the higher end clubs are made for people with handicaps less than ten. If you’re not there than don’t kid yourself and stick with a set of clubs that are more forgiving and easier to hit.
When in doubt stick to the “game improvement” clubs. Even many low handicappers use these.
Budget
Just like any other big purchase you need to stick within your budget. There’s not reason to invest in the most expensive clubs when they probably aren’t the right clubs for your game and considering technology improves so fast you’ll probably want a new set in two-three years anyway. Be smart and stick to a budget.
Woods
For most players you will want a driver, three-wood and probably a five-wood. However, with today’s clubs you may get away without a three- or five-wood and grab an extra hybrid club.
Irons, Hybrids and Wedges
With the advent of hybrids several years ago it has changed the game for the better. Depending on your level of play you may want as many as three or four hybrids in your bag. Consider a 2, 3, 4 or a 3, 4, 5 hybrid arsenal.
When it comes to wedges you will want at least two in your bag. A pitching wedge and a sand wedge. If you’re a beginning you may want an Approach or Gap wedge too which falls in-between your sand and pitching wedges. However, be careful when it comes to a log wedge. They are very difficult to hit consistently and for the better player.
Putter
At least fifty-percent of your shots are from within 100 yards. And most of those are on the green. So logic would say to choose your putter wisely. And I totally agree. All putters are not created equal and if you really want to lower your scores consider spending more on a putter than anything else.
